2022, the Epiphany of the font to write the name MARIA
Since the first exhibition in 1998, I had to choose a font to write MARIA’s name. Since then, the
most widely used has been Book Antiqua: “MARIA”
Now, in 2022, with the new version of MARIA that I called Omnia Plena, I felt the need to find another way to write this name.
So it was that, in blindness, I wrote the letters of the name on clay with my index finger:
a tactile gesture into matter.
I opened my eyes and transformed the imprints left by my finger into digital images.
I made from them the letters with which to design the name that now, too, comes from a tactile gesture like the one of the birth of the MARIA Icon.
